Bio

Sarah Bury (age 42) is a Rogers Park-based attorney, environmental advocate, and organizer challenging three incumbents for one of the three open MWRD 6-year term seats. She earned a joint JD/MA in environmental law and policy from American University (Washington, DC), with internships at the City of Chicago legal department, U.S. EPA, Center for International Environmental Law, and DOJ. She grew up in a home that flooded and has experienced basement flooding in multiple Cook County neighborhoods. She previously ran for MWRD in 2019 and applied for a board appointment in 2024.

Prior office: Student Representative, Whitney Young High School Local School Council (early 2000s). No prior elected office held. Candidate for MWRD Commissioner (2019, did not win); applicant for MWRD board appointment (2024).
